Are you ready to embark on a journey of self-love, self-care, and holistic wellness? In this blog post, I’ll share how I shed 50 pounds and rediscovered myself through a commitment to health and fitness. It’s more than just physical transformation; it’s about including God in every aspect of life because Sisssss Only God knows how I gained the weight, so I def needed Him to help me get rid of it!
The Awakening:
My story begins with a wake-up call from doctors. I was at my heaviest, weighing 200 pounds, and facing minor health issues.
I began going down this rabbit hole, and what motivated me to regain my health was my son. I would easily run out of breath or need constant breaks more often than usual to chase after him. Obviously, we all have a time to go, but I could not fathom not being physically here with him on earth because I chose not to take care of myself. I strongly believe in SHOWING our children how to be, NOT JUST TELLING them.
The Transformation Journey:
Aside from making gradual changes to my diet, I incorporated various at-home equipment to drop a couple pounds, drop a couple pounds (in my Juelz voice lol):
1. Waist Trainer, Wrap, and Ointment: Wearing waist trainers during daily activities, such as cleaning or shopping, helped increase perspiration, promoting my fat loss. It’s a discreet yet effective approach to shedding belly fat.
I do not favor one over the other; both trainers make me sweat. The difference, for me, is that with the SweetSweat waist trainer, you could not tell I had it on underneath my clothing. With the ShaperX waist trainer, you could clearly tell that I was wearing it, but it definitely improved my posture when I wore it.
2. Jump Rope: Turning workouts into playful challenges with my son, like hitting 100 jumps a day, made exercise enjoyable. Other times, we would jump until we were tired and maxed out lol. Whatever you choose, try to make it fun that way it feels less of a hard task!
3. Resistance Bands: Hunnyyyy resistance bands are no joke! These versatile tools became my workout companions. From seated abductors to donkey kicks, resistance bands offer a broad range of exercise options. Get creative and explore different routines!
4. Dumbbells: Start with smaller weights if you must! Don’t go crazy as if you’ve been bodybuilding for years lol. I began with a couple of shoulder shrugs, bicep curls, and punches just to get rid of arm fat. As time went on, I purchased heavier and adjustable ones.
5. Stepper: My mom purchased for us as a gift, and I don’t know why I thought that because it wasn’t that high, I wouldn’t get the workout I wanted. But sisss, was I wrong!
So don’t underestimate the effectiveness of a stepper. It may not be high, but it can deliver an incredible workout, especially when combined with other exercises!
6. Yoga Mat/Strap: A yoga mat is a must for stretches and cooldown exercises. It’s where I found my peace and centered myself before and after workouts.
I love this yoga mat; it has stretches printed on it. These are my go-to stretches before and after workouts, along with a couple of others. But these were the stretches I started off with when I first began my lifestyle changes.
The Essence of Self-Love:
Remember, everyone’s journey is unique, and these methods may need adaptation to suit your needs. What truly matters is reconnecting with yourself and maintaining that connection. By keeping God and self-love at the core of your wellness goals and daily life, every step forward becomes a significant achievement.
